After root canal treatment, taking care of your tooth is important for healing and pain management. The following guidelines will aid your recovery such as:- Soft foods is advised as a temporary is in place.
- Avoid hard foods because hard food can crack teeth and temporary fillings.
- Follow home care instructions given by the treating doctor.
- Take medications as antibiotics as prescribed.
- If the root canal treatment was completed, call your dentist to make an appointment to place a final restoration.
- Return to your dentist and your Endodontist for follow-ups and short check-up.
What you may experience after root canal treatment:
- Slight- moderate pain/ discomfort.
- Gums may be irritates and/or inflamed.
- Slight swelling (Call the office if you have questions).
- Difficulty chewing even soft foods for the first few days.
When to call our office:
- Swelling: Increasing in size / or persistent.
- Pain: Strong pain that is not controlled by medications for pain management.
- Broken temporary filling.
- Questions that you have about your treatment.
